About Your Speech-Language Pathologist

speech therapist working with blocks in speech therapy

If you’re here, you may be worrying about your child and wondering if you need help.

Hi, I’m DeAnna. I’m a pediatric speech therapist, life-long bookworm, and dog and cat mom!

When I was a teenager, my little brother started speech therapy. Before therapy, I understood some of what he he said but other people didn't understand much at all. Even our Grandma, who we saw all the time, needed help "translating" his speech. He used to get so frustrated! As he worked in speech therapy, we all saw so much improvement and people were able to understand him so much better. We saw his personality shine, and he became a total class clown because other people could finally understand his silly jokes! He is an adult now, training to be a firefighter, and he makes people smile every single day.

I know how it feels to look at a loved one, knowing how intelligent, creative, and funny they are, and also knowing that other people can’t see that yet because they can't understand them.

In my 10 years as a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, I have worked with children in their homes, daycares, schools, and ABA clinics. I have supported children of all ages and abilities to help them communicate their wants and needs, develop stronger social relationships, become more confident, and learn to advocate for themselves. I am passionate about pediatric therapy because children have so much potential and helping them achieve that potential is incredibly rewarding. I want to help as many children as possible, just like my brother's speech therapist helped him.

Outside of therapy, my hobbies include knitting, watercolor painting, hiking, gardening, and tent camping. My husband and I live in San Antonio with our two high-energy dogs and one low-energy cat!

If you’ve been worrying about your child’s communication or wondering if they might need some extra support, I would love to meet you and help your family. Consults are always free because I want to make sure we are the perfect fit for your family before we schedule. I am more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!
