Meet Your
Speech-Language Pathologist

If you’re here, you may be worrying about your child and wondering if you need help.
Hi, I’m DeAnna. I’m a pediatric speech therapist, life-long bookworm, and dog and cat mom!
When I was a teenager, my little brother started speech therapy. Before therapy, I understood some of what he he said but other people didn't understand much at all. Even our Grandma (who we saw all the time) needed help "translating" his speech. He used to get so frustrated! As he worked in speech therapy, we all saw so much improvement and people were able to understand him so much better. We saw his personality shine, and he became a total class clown because other people could finally understand his silly jokes! He is an adult now (training to be a firefighter!) and he always strives to help people smile, even on their worst days.
I know how it feels to look at a loved one, knowing how intelligent, creative, and funny they are, and also knowing that other people can’t see that yet because they can't understand them.
In my 10 years as a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, I have worked with children in their homes, daycares, schools, and ABA clinics. I have supported children of all ages and abilities to help them communicate their wants and needs, develop stronger social relationships, become more confident, and learn to advocate for themselves. I am passionate about pediatric therapy because children have so much potential and helping them achieve that potential is incredibly rewarding. I want to help families, just like my brother's speech therapist helped us.
I founded Blue Sage Pediatric Speech and Language Therapy in February of 2025. Earlier in my career, I had no desire to own my own business or run my own practice. However, in 2020, the privately-owned local home health company I had spent the first five years of my career at was bought out by a large national company. Over the next five years of my career, the companies I worked for were bought out four times. Each time this happened, I saw therapists and families scramble to prevent care from being interrupted during the transition. It was hard, and the constant changes were not in the best interest of the children I served.
I realized that as a solo therapist, I couldn't possibly change the entire system. But what I would be able to do is provide really high quality care to a small number of families who want something different. Now at Blue Sage, I provide evidence-based, effective, and consistent therapy with no insurance restrictions or corporate red tape to get in the way of my clients' progress. Each family has individual needs, and by working independently, I can truly serve families instead of insurance companies or national chains.
Outside of speech therapy, my hobbies include knitting, watercolor painting, hiking, gardening, and tent camping. My husband and I live in San Antonio with our two high-energy dogs and one low-energy cat!
If you’ve been worrying about your child’s communication or wondering if they might need some extra support, I would love to meet you and help your family. Consults are always free because I want to make sure we are the perfect fit. I am more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
-DeAnna
